Here’s some good news for you MAC owners out there… CCP is announcing that with the upcoming EVE Online expansion Apocrypha, the MAC version of the game upgrade will include the release of the “Premium” graphics that Mac users have been waiting for. CCP and its Mac development partner, TransGaming, have been working together to address various base issues that delayed the “Premium” upgrade for MAC users back in late 2007, and are ready for deployment.
The Apocrypha Expansion will introduce several exciting features for EVE players. Wormholes will give pilots the opportunity to explore an additional 2400 uncharted solar systems. New solar systems, new rewards, and new risks await those that venture through the wormholes. Tech 3 Ships (Cruisers for now, with more coming later) with modular design will be introduced, with Tech 3 production (to make those ships). A new Mission Arc spanning multiple regions in space will take pilots though all four galactic empires. Also, there will be a new non-player character (NPC) race called The Sleepers introduced.
I for one can’t wait.
The expansion is scheduled for March 10th. You can read more about this at Macworld.
